The La Luma Academy staff team prioritizes the students’ education and their ability to fulfil their personal career goals over everything else. All education, accountability, and support are provided through the lense of how it will impact or support students in their future.
La Luma Academy creates leaders. Rather than simply preparing students with artistic and technical skills that will help them succeed in their hairstyling career, we equip them with a full range of real-world skills - from conflict management to business development to communication, self-awareness and relationship building. We believe it is our job to prepare our students for success in any situation they encounter, whether it be in the workplace, in their personal life, or in the community.
During your time at La Luma Academy you will learn from many professionals actively working in the salon industry. Each of them is chosen by our Academy Director based on skill, experience and specialty. All of La Luma Academy’s instructors are eager to help form the next generation of hairsylists.
Meet the director
In 2010, Andrew opened La Luma Academy and set out to transform the way that students are being launched into their careers as Stylists. He wanted to share his knowledge, experience and skills in a unique way and set students up to thrive in the workplace and in their careers.
Andrew is a true visionary. He sees the big picture and is brilliant at creating and mobilizing a team to put that vision into action. With his years of experience in the salon industry, Andrew understands the needs and challenges of Apprentices, Stylists and Salon Owners. He has coached, taught and mentored countless industry professionals and is passionate about everyone creating their desired success and pay cheque.
Andrew founded La Luma Academy to give students a resilient start to their career ensuring they can build the success and future they desire. Andrew takes his decades of knowledge and experience gained in the beauty industry and teaches it to La Luma Academy students so every graduate has a head start in achieving their career goals and dreams.

Founder & Owner
Andrew, has spent 25 years in the salon industry, working as a stylist, salon owner, and educator for manufacturers and distributors. In his experience, Andrew noticed that the technical foundation and personal development required to launch a stylist’s career had a lot of gaps and was inspired to create a beauty school that fully prepared stylists for their future careers.
In 2003 Andrew met Don Bewley, the founder of Eufora, who became Andrew’s mentor. This introduced Andrew to new areas of the industry from creating products, colour lines and cutting systems, to the best practices for working with guests on the salon floor. Andrew went on the road for 7 years educating salon owners and stylists in service systems, marketing, and technical support throughout North America.
